I’ve been wanting to create a personal space online that feels like mine. Not tied to a big platform, not buried in algorithms.

seremot.com is a small site where I can write, explore ideas, and test tools — especially around communication, technology, and AI. It’s built using Hugo and hosted with Cloudflare Pages, keeping things fast, light, and fully owned by me.

Let’s see where this goes.

Why seremot? That’s easy. I’ve been using emot since the 1990s, when I was a teenager — it’s my last name (Tomé) reversed. In the late 1990s — 1999, really — when I got to college, the movie Being John Malkovich was around. I loved the name and the concept (though not so much the movie itself), so I started using BeingEmot and other variations in mIRC chat rooms. Later, I swapped “Being” for the Portuguese equivalent “Ser” (which also means to be — as in to be or not to be). So, seremot. That’s it.
